CONFIGURING A PACKING STATION IN 4 EASY STEPS?

 

1. DEFINE THE TYPE AND VOLUME OF YOUR DAILY SHIPMENTS 

  • Standard
  • Fragile
  • Oversized

Starting here will give you a good idea of the level of automation required and the options you may want to incorporate into your packing station.

 

2. REVIEW YOUR PACKAGING NEEDS

  • Boxes and dimensions
  • Void fill material (e.g. paper, bags, bubble wrap)
  • Type of adhesive tape used
  • Custom accessories incorporated to enhance the unpacking experience (personalized cards, stickers, etc.)

Organization is the key to optimization! Take the time to list all the elements of what you would consider the perfect shipping set-up. And there’s nothing more appealing than a properly configured workstation equipped with shelving, dividers, extra storage, roll bar, adjustable monitor mount and keyboard tray, among other features.

 

3. CHOOSE EQUIPMENT THAT HELPS YOU AUTOMATE KEY STEPS

  •   Void fill material:
    • Paper system (e.g. FasFil).

    • Gun tape.
  • Labeller
  • Scanners and monitors
  • Scales

These are the steps automated most frequently, but don’t hesitate to find out about other available options.

 

4. Configure your packing station  

  • Items used regularly should be kept overhead within easy reach.
  • All practical and essential tools that you hate having to go looking for should be kept at table level, e.g. adhesive tape, packing lists, label printer, monitor. 
  • Devices and accessories used less often can be kept down below. Besides freeing up your workspace, this will help avoid back fatigue!
